A simple anime with simple story. No unnecessary plot twists. Simple language, easy to explain powers. Excellent art and animation. Fairy tail one among the trending anime, it has a very good story at its disposal. It sure is a treat for those who are looking for funny anime. Ranked at five, because of the repetitive plot after 200 episodes and the story being dragged down by unexplained power ups, Fairy tail is not the best out there but will sure appeal to younger audiences (13 to 17).

Naruto, the name is enough for a lot of otakus. A series, that is long, yet interesting with excellent character development and a beautiful plot with twists and turns. Elegancy through simplicity. A lot of people start with Naruto as their first anime and get quite attached to it. Excellent sound tracks, awesome fight scenes, comedy, badass villains, you name it and it is there. Ranked at four because of the long plot and the fillers, but Naruto sure is a worthy recommendation.

3. Steins;Gate (For Sci – Fi lovers)

Steins;Gate, A very short anime with just 24 episodes. If you are a science fiction aficionado then this one for you. “Time Travel”, the one concept “The Hollywood” keeps creating movies about never gets old.  The show initially starts slow, but once you are into it, I assure you it will be easily the best sci-fi anime you have ever seen. The best part about this is, absolutely Zero Plot holes, the story sticks the logic it initially lays out. With an IMDB rating of 9+ it’s one of the few anime that has such a  praising. The only downside being the dark shade characters because of low budgeting.

2. Sword Art Online

Ten thousand people get stuck in VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). The only way to get out alive is to clear the game. Death in game results in death in the real world. With such a good plot and excellent visuals, the show starts pretty interesting. Later on, the story changes from sword fights to romance. Subtle romance, neat visuals and beautifully drawn characters are a visual treat to the viewers. The show will appeal to those who love Romantic drama.

Death Note, an anime that can put a lot of thriller and psychological movies to shame. With just 36 episodes and the intense psychological battle between Light Yagami and L is one of the best in the anime world. No emotionally dramatic scenes, just a beautiful plot that progresses interestingly.  Two highly intellectual persons, the one whose identity gets revealed first will die. The show incites a debate between morale and justice among viewers. Is it bad to kill a criminal ? Is it bad to change the world by killing all the criminals.

High school student Light Yagami stumbles upon a mysterious note named Death Note. He tests the power of it by writing the names of criminals on it. To his surprise, the note works and the criminals die. With this divine capability, Light decides to extinguish all criminals in order to build a new world where crime does not exist and people worship him as a god.
